sometimes when you are going to a big 10 university its hard to muster the motivation to put on something other than sweatpants in the morning. but if yall are planning on having a casual day, take some inspo from Joanna her and slap on a really cute sweatshirt with a tiger head on it. I don't think they sell them at the Victoria Secret PINK store.

Birthday Fashion

Landmark birthdays require costume changes. Cedric shed his orange polyester suit (not pictured) for a finely checkered jumper at his party.

The piece translated beautifully from eveningwear to sleepwear.

urban outfitters is open yall

U of I is probably the most rewarding place to be in terms of getting a solid back to school vibe. Here we have to babes that collided on the quad in their first day of class finest, much like stars aligning. My personal favorites are Sarah's white doc martens and the length of Matt's shorts. *perfection*

Congratulations, graduates!

With a dramatic blouse and perfect hair, who's even gonna see that Chanel 2.55 on your shoulder?

They were afraid of being a Vice "Don't", but rest assured - mixing heather grays is a Styllini "Do."

Northwest to Midwest.

Drew says he gets his fashion inspiration from co-workers and patrons at the bike (right?) shop he worked at in Portland. That's a way cooler answer than, like, some 15 year old's fashion blog.

Unable to resist the allure of his tailored vest and sleek Clarks, I badgered Kevin in the midst of his authoritative voicemail.

Salad Bar Boyz

Scott's baby blue Vans are too new and clean to have any street cred, but I kind of want them to stay that way forever.

Sunshine style

Nothing makes our hearts swoon like a sharply dressed couple (even moreso if they are by the Eternal Flame.)

Mouse flats, 20s hair, flower buttons - it's all about the (adorable) details.

At the UGL, squared.

girls gone styled

Earlier the other night, making my weekend trip to rentertainment, I saw tons of the usual Green Street girls, flashing butt cheeks, sobbing into their cell phones about how their boyfriends cheated on them while their inadvertently exposed breasts flapped in the evening breeze. Obviously it was refreshing (and creepy on my part, I suppose) to catch these ladies in the stairwell at 3am, still looking classy after a long night of swing dancing. dreamy.

Tara's corseted dress made our bosoms heave with delight. She said she couldn't breath in it but always remember- it's not about how you feel, its about how you look.

So many elements of this outfit are fusing together like alchemy where the final product is GOLD, ben, GOLD. Boys, wear pennyloafers, short sleeved button ups, skinny ties, and cropped pants allday errday.

LOOK AT ME/dont look at me.

The other day, Paulina and I were scampering about in our Lanvin blouses (Paulina was also wearing high-waisted Escada slacks) and we happened to run into our good friend- DJ/postermaker/blogger/marketing major/musician- Justin. And then he interviewed us for his 217 blog, Live Transmission...

JUST KIDDING GUYS. Paulina has like 4 classes with Justin and we eat dinner with him every night. We planned a photoshoot involving his DSLR and about 600 different poses on our part. And then Justin emailed us interview questions and we each spent 40 minutes carefully constructing witty quips to make ourselves look like the most charming girls in all the land.

However, I used the phrase "fashion forward" twice and I am squinting in all my pics because I had previously stabbed myself in the eye with a mascara wand, so it failed anyway.

here's Paulina's take on it: I was almost unable to type this because my praying mantis hands are so enormous and beef-like.

anyway here's the link- check it out!!!

I feel the earth! Move! Under my feet!

She should model for cell phone ads.

And, a snippet from Religious Studies discussion:

TA: Oh, are you in a play?
Me [dressed like a hybrid of Sailor Moon and Talbots '02]: Wha?
TA: Your outfit. It is so... special today.

Paulina and I aggressively chased Min on the quad but she was too busy lookin like a rock star to notice us. Until we wrestled her to the ground. Happy Friday.

in a 90s kind of world, im glad i got my girls

Sometimes, there are days in the CU with almost no street style to speak of. It could be fate, it could be weather conditions, it could be spending 2 hours sitting through a lecture about diversity in room full of blue and orange blooded paraprofessionals instead of spending quality time on the streets, searching for style. You know that somewhere on campus there is an international student from Japan in complicated-looking raw denim and sequined earmuffs, but you just don't know where to find her. It is on these dark days that you have to bite the bullet and turn lovingly to your darling co-blogger, whose neogrunge look makes it all OK.

better be street if ya lookin at me

Matthew eschews the Chief and opts for a silky baseball jacket to rep his school. Take note, fighting styllini.

Sunday, March 2, 2008

Hey you're wearing a jean jacket too?

Jean jackets are going to be huge this spring. Try wearing two if you really want to be innovative, kids.

Rites of Spring

Today Paulina and I wandered the campus in hopes of finding springtime street style. We found a lot of gym shorts and not as many Prada S/S '08 looks. Luckily, we found Keith, whose bright hues and sassy neck scarf are exactly what the weather called for.

Monday, January 28, 2008

We hope you all enjoyed the blistering 41 degree weather today; tomorrow should be just as nice!

UGL? More like STYL!

Styllini is back from break, with more sharply dressed Chambana patrons, blurry library pictures, and skinny jeans than ever! May your 2008 be as nifty as his boots, faithful readers (aka my mama.)
